Kickstarted from a combination of a poem written when I was 16 rediscovered in an old diary and listening to too much Jon Foreman.
lyrics
The stars are my companions tonight,
more than motorway light,
more than this wind that bites as it creeps into my bones
and makes its presence known.
They stare at me with winking eyes,
through the smog they survive
and they linger at my side, in the place where you belong,
they make their presence known.
You're not here.
You're not here by my side.
The stars are my companions tonight.
There are no shades to black and white.
There is no middle ground to hide
and I knew that all along,
when you made your presence known.
The stars have called my feet into the night.
I have no patience in this fight.
For if you are always right
then that always leaves me wrong.
So I won't make my presence known.
You're not here.
You're not here by my side.
So I won't make my presence known.
I won't make my presence known.
I guess that leaves me here alone.
